A pesticide application is over in ten minutes. The record of it has to last for years, because that is how long a customer, a neighbour or a regulator can come back and ask about it.
What each record needs
The product, the rate it went down at, the EPA registration number, the site, the weather on the day, and the name of the licensed applicator. Miss any one of those and the record is much harder to stand behind.
Weather matters more than people think
Wind speed and direction decide whether drift was possible. Rain soon after an application changes how the product behaved. Writing down the conditions at the time is what protects you when a neighbour’s garden starts looking unhappy.
Give the customer a copy
Plenty of customers want to know what went on their lawn, especially with pets and children around. Handing over a copy from the same record is quicker than answering the question twice, and it builds trust.
Paper gets lost in the van
Clipboards get wet, sheets go missing and handwriting fades. A record created on the phone at the time of the job survives when the paperwork does not.
